Disappointing - 2.0 out of 5

Vicky H, Nottingham, visiting O2 Ritz Manchester Tue, 17 January 2023

Paid £35 online for a Sunday night. The reviews for this hotel were terrible but we seem to have gotten lucky. The fact it was a Sunday meant it was way cheaper and pretty empty. The rooms are shabby but I paid £35. I wasn't expecting much. I'd stay again for a cheap night when you're not going to be spending too much time in the hotel. 9 minutes from the Ritz and 10 minutes from city park, which you get discounted parking through the hotel reception. You get what you pay for.

Liked: Friendly staff. Cheap. Great location.
Disliked: Tropical heat in the bedroom and the phone going off all night.

Friendly staff and great location but I think perhaps we got what we paid for. Keeping in mind I have an 8 month old child at home, this was by far the worst night's sleep I have experienced in over a year! Not quite the comfortable, peaceful night I was hoping for! As long as you don't want to sleep, the hotel is great as a base, but avoid breakfast at all costs!

Liked: Good location.
Disliked: Bed was rock hard; breakfast was very unpleasant.

Staff were nice, extortionate price....

Liked: Staff were nice. Tv was a decent size in the room, bed was comfortable
Disliked: I was in one of the two rooms at the very top. The room was extremely small, and very much looked like it had originally been an attic apartment that's been converted into 2 rooms. The bathroom was very old fashioned, felt like my nan's bathroom used to look like in the 90s. Bath with a shower head that was so small, I had to lean close to the wall for the water to reach me. Also, could hear the couple next door the entire time as the walls are too thin and my whole room was shaking when they were engaging in standard couple hotel activity.Have stayed in a room on the second floor before and this room wasn't even half the size of that one, with a much lower rood. Also, 300 pound for 2 nights on this seems extremely extortionate

Given the short time I...

Liked: Bed was comfortable and good to have plentiful tea bags and milk in the room
Disliked: Very disappointed to have to pay for Wifi to receive a signal in the room. The staff were less than friendly. The cleaners walked into my room in the morning 'assuming' it was empty. Thank goodness I was in a decent state! Breakfast was good if you wanted a cooked meal but very limited if you wanted healthy options.
