Annette, Mendota Heights
I am more of a traditionalist. I have seen As You Like It a couple of times, once in London, and even went to a pre-play discussion of it this time. I knew it would be in modern dress. So putting the players in tennis shoes, sweatshirts, heavy jackets, etc. didn't surprise me, but it didn't work well for me either. The music was well-played and upbeat, and most of the audience seemed to love it and have a ball. For me it was sort of '"As most of you like it."
Liked: Our seats were in a good place so we could see and hear well. We were a few minutes late, but were ushered in at a reasonably short time.
Disliked: For me, who did not bring my hearing aids, as we were sitting pretty close to the front, I had a hard time understanding a lot of the dialogue. The players spoke quickly, and much of it was lost to me. Many in the audience laughed along with the dialogue, and obviously enjoyed it very much.

All three of the musicals that we attended were very impressive. We intend to make this an annual event.
Liked: A very polished and well cast performance of South Pacific. All the singing was first rate!
Disliked: Very cold in the theater.
