Nice location, the room finishings...
Liked: The beds were very comfortable. The sheets were high quality. Location was 2 blocks from the SkyTrain station. The free espresso with the machine was nice. Kitchens looked good but not many cooking supplies, pots, pans, or utensils. Staff are friendly and helpful. Your stay supports community programs. Non profit hotel. Prices on the lower end for downtown area.
Disliked: Rooms are not soundproof. Can hear people in the hallways walking and talking. The doors have a huge gap between the door and floor that let in all the light from the hallway. The room would never get completely dark. The curtains were too tiny, and didn't cover enough of the walls, so the room was quite bright throughout the night because the lights from the street would enter the room through the sides and top of the closed curtains, illuminating the room. Even with all the lights off, and curtains closed, the level of darkness was like twilight because of the street and hallway lights. If you can find something next door at Georgian Court for the same price or even $20 more per night, definitely pick the other hotel unless you really just want to support the YWCA. My stay was at a non peak time of year so I was able to try both hotels. If you are planning to do laundry, there may not be available machines because most were out of order. The vending machine sells powdered soap only, yet the washing machines only take liquid soap designed for the machines. There are warning signs on the machines not to use the wrong type of soap, yet this is the only kind the hotel sells. Seems like a problem because the machines were out of order on two out of three floors. One of the machines was obviously broken because someone used the wrong soap type as bubbles and suds completely filled the machine overflowing onto the floor.Ice machine was only on the 7th floor, but no other floors.

It's fun to stay at...
Liked: It's well laid out, there are many options for different shared or private amenities, staying there helps their charitable work with women and children in the Lower Mainland, and it's extremely well located.
Disliked: Nothing against YWCA, just the cost of staying in Vancouver is so high these days.
