In need of modernisation and...

Liked: Comfortable mattress and hot water in shower. Very convenient for station.
Disliked: Peeling paint on window frames, scuffed, tired furniture, drab wallpaper with wall art and framed information that looked like they were put up 50 years ago.Bathroom smelled very damp, shower fitting leaked badly; only 2 clothes hangers.

Liked: I was told when I asked thatThe hotel had a fire about 2 months ago. The smell was still strong on the top floor where i stayed. It was so bad i had to sleep with the window open. Also, very few channels worked on the TV. Not a pleasant experience.
Disliked: If they could’ve changed my room, bit apparently they were fully bookedThe room i was given didn’t resemble the rooms advertised on the website. Misleading to say the least.

Liked: No breakfast on offer at hotel
Disliked: Would have liked somewhere to have breakfast .Nothing to do with hotel but local bus 485 let us down by not turning up .

Not comfortable, but OK for...

Liked: Staff dealt well with situation and apologetic and accommodating, eventually giving me a room at reduced rate.
Disliked: Hotel was shut but didn't notify me. As it was late, eventually let me have a room as only guest in hotel. Understandably in the circumstances, room was a bit basic - towels, but no soap, water glasses, table lamps, etc. Slight musty smell. Bed and bed linen also basic - foam mattress, etc.
