Great stay

Liked: Clean, well designed, smooth check in, lots of kitchen and dining space.
Disliked: I stayed during the Hikoi so was woken up super early by large groups rehearsing singing etc. in the dining hall which was right outside my window. This didn’t bother me personally, but if you wanted to sleep in after 7am you would have struggled.

Hostel was fine ... guests...

Liked: Location was good esp with supermarket over the road. The facilities were good although the cleaning was a full time job for many staff ... the hotel was booked solid when we were there.
Disliked: Hostels only work well if people respect one another. Sadly there is a lack of respect in the world nowadays. Guests left cooking messes, didn't clean up their tables, banged about after midnight, no thought for others trying to sleep. Lots of talking in the corridors late at night. The design of the building is not ideal. Some rooms get little air as the windows don't open far. The twin room we were in was smaller than the one in the photo. The doors are fire doors and are heavy. They bang when they close..you can't ease them closed from outside the room. The lights in the hallway are so bright it's ridiculous. But mostly it was the complete lack of consideration that other guests showed. Kids racing around the hallways playing tag at 11.30pm. There are signs reminding people to be considerate ... perhaps they should be bolder.Hostels work when people respect one another. The world has lost that consideration. Sad but just how it is.Suggestion to the manager ... dim the lights in the hallways after 11pm to remind guests that others might be trying to sleep. Bigger signs in the kitchen reminding people that the fairies don't visit and clean up your mess overnight.
