What a great place for...

Liked: Where to begin? Staying at the YHA Grinton was like being in a chateau or castle off the beaten path. It was the first destination on my motorbike tour and I absolutely loved it. Stunning views of the Yorkshire Dales. Great service and access to meals. Lovely social environments and I even met other riders on their tours. Showers and beds were very convenient, and motorcycle parking was safe and secure. It was also a great starting point for exploring the country roads in the Dales. Couldn't have asked for a better place, really!
Disliked: Can't complain about anything. I wanted a place away from civilisation and I got it. I had a lovely time.

Great if you literally want...

Liked: Fantastic location and views. Cheap for a family room.
Disliked: Very tatty with peeling paintwork, cobwebs. The food was hugely over-priced. Poor service. They burnt my daughter's pizza so it came out after we'd all finished and they wouldn't take money off or provide some interim chips because they said they were a charity.

Great venue for exploring the...

Liked: Staff were very friendly and the location, close to Reeth at the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, , is very special. Lovely countryside but not too isolated. Excellent walks from the door, great views and plenty of quiet areas to sit and read or chat. It was pretty busy on the Saturday night, Sunday breakfast was well attended and good value .
Disliked: Nothing, really. We liked Youth Hostels in our youth and they provide so many opportunities still, for both young and old, to experience trips to special places. You are not staying at a 5 star hotel but the price reflects that. Our double room was warm and cosy. The bathroom upstairs was obviously a work in progress but the new claw footed bath was really nice and there was plenty hot water.

Comfortable stay in an amazing...

Liked: Amazing views, friendly staff, great wash facilities, great cooking facilities, clean accommodation pods and amazing value. The sun set out front is not to be missed.
Disliked: Take mosquito spray in the summer! (Not the properties fault obviously). There are sheep within the grounds, so be careful if you have a dog (keep on lead).
