Perfect base for exploring Berwick

Liked: The staff were delightful and super helpful. All the food available at different times of day was delicious. The facilities were warm comfortable and very accessible. The bed was comfortable and the room clean as a whistle.

Brilliant building & lovely cafe...

Liked: YHA atmospheric historic area Berwick just couple minutes walk bridge across Tweed and less than ten minutes Berwick train station. Leaning shell old building has been retained with strikingly modern inside. Good size room clean enough with basic amenities and attractive view across roofs of old town excellent wet room shower with separate toilet & basin. Clean well equipped top floor kitchen and pleasant dining room. Ground floor cafe lovely place for coffee & food with helpful staff.
Disliked: Check-in headache as allocated five bed room having booked twin bed room rectified immediately when returned reception but the THIRD time happen this YHA with the previous occasions stuck room did not want for the duration my stay. One of the two main lights and bed light my room not working. Disturbed sleep from occasional banging corridor fire door which would be easy to rectify. Noisy couple hours one evening from young children corridor but quiet their bedtime! Stressful last morning as woke up 8AM for 9AM booked breakfast to find taps & shower completely dry. Guest reported reception staff not worried as expecting water supply to resume shortly but flow returned slowly and not able shower for almost hour & half. Reception staff reluctant refund missed breakfast even though I offered use refund buy lunch there instead and muttered that water only off twenty minutes despite having told him how long wait shower. No understanding that dry taps and not knowing for how long made stressful start day.
