Everything was run down and...
Liked: It’s something’s I wouldn’t experience again. Serving breakfast on paper plates smh. One of many down falls.

Convenient and close
Liked: The location was great! One exit away from Busch Gardens and Water Country was right across the street! I could tell the lobby and rooms were recently upgraded and they were nice. Very spacious with a desk, vanity sink, smart TV, and lots of outlets for devices!
Disliked: The breakfast was really lackluster. No hot breakfast unless you count toast or you heating up a Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwich. The chairs in the breakfast area had stain at the table I chose. The AC in the room wasn't clean and I woke up to black specks of dust on my bed that had blown from the vent all night.

We were deeply disappointed with...
Liked: There was antiquate space for parking when we arrived.
Disliked: Our recent stay at the Holiday Inn Express in Gloucester, Virginia, was a complete disaster. From the moment we arrived, it was clear this hotel was in dire need of attention. The ongoing renovations created a chaotic and unpleasant environment.First, the building itself was in a state of disrepair. Our keycard failed to work on the entry door near the elevator, and to our horror, we discovered the door was simply broken and wouldn't lock. This posed a significant security risk, as anyone could have entered the building. The elevator was equally appalling. Dirty, dusty, and clearly neglected, it was a terrifying experience to use. We were on the third floor and only braved it because we couldn’t immediately find the stairs late at night.Inside our room, the problems continued. The phone was completely non-functional, and the shower door wouldn't close properly, leaving a large gap. The shoddy workmanship was evident in the shower's half-inch gap filled with sloppy silicone. To add insult to injury, we were never informed about the renovations or the broken door upon check-in. There was no warning about the dust and noise, which made our stay extremely uncomfortable. The advertised "hot breakfast" was a joke. We were presented with cereal, toast, and microwaveable sausage biscuits. The milk was a single gallon of low-fat milk shared by all guests. The breakfast area was dirty, with construction debris adding to the unpleasant atmosphere. The check-out process was equally unprofessional. A security officer, not a front desk employee, took our key and dismissed us.Considering the appalling conditions and lack of basic amenities, we are deeply disappointed with this experience, especially as loyal IHG members. Even though we used points for this reservation, we are requesting a full refund of those points. This hotel is a disgrace to the Holiday Inn Express brand and should be avoided at all costs."

Quick getaway with the kids...
Liked: Did not like that I couldn’t go left to target. Breakfast was great but ended early.
