Overall, gets the job done....
Liked: Breakfast was good. The basics were well covered without anything too flashy, and I appreciated that the portions were smaller, as it minimized potential waste compared to typical breakfast buffets. However, it would be helpful to have a compartment with wet towelettes in addition to just hand sanitizer. Also, the cups were stuck together so tightly that people had to touch several just to get one. Using dividers could help prevent this issue. The cleaning staff was very friendly. My key stopped working multiple times, even after having it rescanned. The cleaning staff got used to seeing me locked out and often assisted so I could get back in the room, set my stuff down and return downstairs to rescan the key.
Disliked: The room was what my partner and I referred to as a "don't look too close" room. There were odd stains on the floor, and the bathtub had a beveled edge. This might sound trivial, but we didn’t have a "do not disturb" sign in the room. I knew I could ask for one, but it always slipped my mind until I needed it again. I also had a service dog, and some hotels provide a "Service Dog in Room" sign. The absence of either the sign or the basic do-not-disturb option before entering the room was a bit frustrating. The staff seemed distant and unconcerned with the guests. They were often on their phones and not very friendly. Most weren’t rude by any means—only one was—but they just seemed... bored. I wish I could remember their names, but two men on the last night we stayed (Sunday to Monday morning) were kind and accommodating. More than anything, it felt like it took a while for them to warm up. I wonder how hotel management helps keep the staff motivated. One man, who was blonde and short, worked Saturday night. He told my partner and me that he "likes to earn more money for the hotel." While that seems fine, he also mentioned that he might upcharge people (without their knowledge) if they booked past a certain time. He laughed, but I found that quite off-putting. This might be information he should keep to himself because if it’s true, I was one of those people; I had to add an extra day to my reservation, which ended up being significantly more expensive than the initial booking. I don’t think the hotel would mind him doing this, since as he said, it makes them money. However, I find it unethical. It seems unlikely anything will be done about it, so he should probably just keep his mouth shut.
