Liked: Loved the grounds, building, and rooms. The rooms in the main house are a perfect balance of a modern/classic feel, with gorgeous beams still present across the ceilings. We really loved the restaurant and the quality of the food/service. The manager Vusi was very accommodating when things in our visit went wrong. I requested a hbd set up on the bed as well as paid for chocolate covered strawberries and we came back to the room, which was made up, but nothing was done. Vusi handled this situation so so well and really helped rectify something that almost ruined our weekend.
Disliked: We stayed in The Reynolds room (main house) and there are two staff rooms opposite the room. One is directly opposite, and the other is just slightly down the hall. Unfortunately, the staff inside were quite loud each morning with their conversations, which woke me up each morning. They were so loud one morning that I opened and closed our door to signify that they had disturbed us. After which, they then closed their door and lowered their voices.This stay was a surprise birthday treat for my partner. In addition to the stay, before we arrived, I also requested that the bed be made up on the Sunday with happy birthday decorations and chocolate covered strawberries (which i paid extra for). We left the room from 09:30 to midday for this to be done. Unfortunately, we arrived back in the room, which was made up and had the extra floor mat I requested that morning, however, no decorations. I went down and spoke with the staff at reception (I believe I spoke with Nola initially), explained the situation, and how disappointed I was. She told me the reason why was that they had just finished doing our room and was coming back to do that, but we just came back in. If I'm being honest, I do think they just forgot because when we got back up, after spending over an hour in the Christmas Market, they had only done the towel hbd decor and there were no strawberries. So again, I went down to reception and this time spoke with Vusi who had overheard my previous conversation about the decor not being done and understood my frustration. She completely took ownership over the issue and insisted it would get done immediately and also refunded me for it because of how badly it was executed. She also gave us complimentary drinks at dinner in the restaurant that night (which was really nice as it was my partners birthday that day and everything going wrong wasn't nice).
