A birthday treat we did...

Liked: Excellent location-staff also Excellent.We only had breakfast both mornings which we enjoyed but chatting to other guests the evening meals were in their opinion the food was good.
Disliked: The building is very attractive from the outside, the ground floor is welcoming-the big bit for us was the bedroom--really tired and in need of tlc. However lovely clean beds but no double glazing

Nice hotel, long way from...

Liked: Breakfast was great, lots on offer.
Disliked: Having to pay for parking on hotel property.

Misleading Breakfast Inclusion

Liked: The hotel's location offers easy access to both the serene beauty of the Lake District and the vibrant town center, making it an ideal spot for exploration..
Disliked: When I made my booking, the hotel listing clearly stated that breakfast was included in the room rate. This was a significant factor in my decision to choose the Windermere Hotel, as I appreciate the convenience and value of having breakfast included.However, upon checking in, I was informed that there would be an additional charge per person for breakfast. This was confusing and disappointing, as it contradicted the information provided at the time of booking.I believe that the hotel should have been more transparent about this policy. The discrepancy between the booking information and the reality at check-in created an unnecessary inconvenience. It's important for hotels to ensure that their booking details are clear and accurate to avoid misleading customers.

Pleasant

Disenchanting, demoralising and deplorable.

Liked: The hotel was easy to find. The radiator worked well.
Disliked: The scenic view that was advertised was that of a tarmac road and slate rooves. Considering this hotel is situated in the Lake District, scenic is a little ambitious. The staff at the front desk were rude and condescending and when asked about the 'scenic view' the response was that scenic is subjective. When we asked if we could book to eat dinner at the restaurant, we were told that we had to book the 'package' deal with our room and because we hadn't, the only suggestion was to "find somewhere else to eat". Seeing that the restaurant space was completely empty, this seemed a little strange but we ended up having a truly amazing dining experience at The Boathouse, so one might call it a blessing in disguise. You can park your car at the hotel for a price of £6 per night which the hotel has zero interest in reimbursing. There are alternative car parking options outside the hotel but as you might guess, they also charge. The price we paid for this room (including the extra charge just to have a 'scenic view') is absolutely not reflective of the services offered by this hotel. False advertising is a generous description of this particular establishment.

Very uncomfortable didn't get much...

Liked: Room where dated smelt of damp. Bed mattress hard and uncomfortable didn't get much sleep. I expected it to be very nice and grand but was the very opposite and was disappointed considering the building looks gorgeous. The heating was on full and had to turn the radiator off.
Disliked: Room dark smelly net curtains could have done with a wash. The room could have been briighter.Fan in the bathroom did not work either.The Reseponist talked too fast and didn't understand him. Parking should of been free has you pay to stay at the hotel.

Area nice , hotel not...

Liked: Breakfast was very nice.
Disliked: Bathroom was very tight to manoeuvre around inside.No lakeside view as described on your website totally miss sold and paid extra for that. Lakeside was 1.5 miles away from the hotel. The hotel website itself doesn't even say lakeside view it says scenic view.So I will be be looking for some type of refund.
