Hotel Description
Seventeen acres of beautiful formal gardens and parkland surround this grand Victorian hotel. Fresh produce grown on Willington Hall Hotel's grounds is used in the restaurant's modern British dishes. Antique furnishings are in each individually designed room. Afternoon tea can be taken on the terrace or in the elegant drawing room. The homemade pie of the week is a popular choice in the bar and snacks and drinks are available throughout the day. A sunny day out in the Cheshire countryside can be complimented by one of Willington's picnic hampers. Egyptian cotton linen covers each bed and guests can relax in front of the flat-screen TV. Most rooms have lovely views across the surrounding parkland and countryside. Free private parking is available and Delamere Rail Station is a 10-minute taxi journey away. Bike rides can be enjoyed through the woodland and around the lakes in Delamere Forest which is also just a 10-minute drive away.

Avoid at all costs

Liked: The hotel is in a lovely setting. The man running the bar was very friendly and so was the lovely young lady who served breakfast on the first day. They did try and sort the problem with the cleanliness of our room whilst we were out.
Disliked: The cleanliness of our room was bad. We had cobwebs thick with dust that covered the whole walls of our bathroom down to waist level along with ones around the toilet and hanging from the ceiling too. There was make-up on the sink and the soap dispenser was grubby. The kettle had what looked like mold inside and was grubby around the top. Very poor workmanship where tiles in the bathroom didn't fit and also the bed valance didn't fit either. The throw at the end of the bed was white and had dark marks on it. The bottom sheet wasn't large enough to tuck under the mattress. The mattress seemed very old and was very uncomfortable and the pillows were shocking. The breakfast was cooked well but the ingredients were very poor - the orange juice was almost undrinkable and the cereal was very poor quality. We only took advantage of the included breakfast on the first day because of this. One of the yoghurts that we picked up was also 4 days out of date. There was a bin outside to the front of the hotel that is the smallest size of bathroom bin (approx 30cm) that had a dog poo sticker on and the lid was open with at least 30cm of filled poo bags piled up out of the top. Very disappointed and checked out 1 night early. Only 1 other couple staying there and it's no surprise - such a shame as it has the potential to be wonderful.

Nice property, average accommodation. Price...

Liked: Nice service staff, good location for Oulton Park circuit. Evening meal great, cooked breakfast half the portion of what you’d expect.
Disliked: Required pre payment card for “bar spends”, no itemised invoice for the evenings meal/bar bill, just a total due upon check out (despite a pre payment card?). Shower 100% did not work, but was told upon check out we should’ve told them at 9:30pm when we went to bed (which is the last thing you want in to be dealing with). Tried again in the morning but still no joy. Was also questioned on the legitimacy of the “non working shower”. No apology only “we should’ve told them at the time” and “did we run it long enough, it is an old property”. Maybe so, but not our first rodeo, but quite a rude response especially when the other half runs a successful heating company.
