Very poor

Liked: Good location. 5 minuter walk into town.
Disliked: Broken lock on room door. No latch or lock on bathroom door. Extremely loud guests with thin walls made sleeping near impossible. Room could have been cleaner. No cream or milk for coffee.

Good

Liked: The room was very clean and updated. The staff could have been more professional, but they were friendly and polite. The wifi signal did not reach our room, and there were no curtains. It is a quaint, rustic place, with a ton of potential, and it looks like the owners are investing in it.

We had to pay for...

Liked: We did not like the property and would not stay. The girl at the front seat was at least nice.
Disliked: The pictures were deceiving. The linens were dirty. The towels were wet. The window screen was falling out and the door was NOT secure. It also seemed like it was in a sketchy area and people were living in the motel. The toilet seat was about to fall off and the shower was dirty. We ate the cost and went somewhere else.

Bad

Liked: Iocation okay. We did not have breakfast
Disliked: Nothing was as advertised on the booking site. The building is falling down. The parking lot is full of holes. Room looked nothing like the picture on the website. To get into the non-functioning shower, you would have to have stepped over a foot high lip. The furniture was ancient. The room did look reasonably clean, as though the staff had tried to make it hospi

Very Good - 4.0 out of 5

My favorite place to stay...

Liked: I like the casual style of the hotel. It is laid back and easy going. It has a very home away from home feel to it which I like much more than a "I'm staying in a hotel" vibe. This was not my first stay. When I needed a room in Hilo, I was glad they had a vacancy in my favorite room- the suite.
Disliked: It would be nice if the water got hot faster, but that is hardly a deal killer. The staff tell you to expect it and advise you to start running the shower early and give it time. No big deal.

Great staff, great location, great...

Liked: The manager was the sweetest person ever. She was always really nice and helpful! I loved staying here because the garden was so beautiful, the room was so spacious, the breakfast was really fresh, and the location was the most convenient. It was a little rough that the water took a while to heat up, but it wasn't a deal breaker. I think the fact that this hotel was easy to get to on the bus and by car eclipsed that. You're literally in the best part of town, so don't sleep on this place. All the places my friends said to go to were so close by - Ken's House of Pancakes, Two Ladies Kitchen, Kuhio Grille, King Kamehameha Statue, Queen Lili'uokalani Garden, and so on.
Disliked: The wait for the water is a bit long, so you may have to have it running for a while before hopping in. I recommend taking your bath at night and just washing up in the morning to overcome this. I was going to take the shower in the lobby but the lock didn't line up well so I skipped it.
