Will not book again.
Disliked: Property was undergoing renovation. Our room had not been renovated No air conditioning. Water in show took at least 20 minutes to get warm- not hot. Very rustic. Included breakfast was just ok. It was inexpensive but I didn’t expect that rustic.

It was ok
Disliked: I think the pictures were deceiving

February 5 unpleasant experience
Disliked: Some of the pictures were deceptive. The continental breakfast looked nothing like the picture. No plates for the food, just a napkin. The milk was on the table for at least 2 hours, not kept cold. The coffee was good, that's about it.There was evidence of construction work going on, but no workers, just piles of timber and other items lying about. The room was noisy part of the time. The curtain didn't cover the window, so the light from the outdoor hallway shone in all night. The bed was made the blanket on the inside, very strange. The king bed had one large pillow and one small pillow, not matching. The bathroom sink was unsteady and the toilet was wedged in place. The staff were decent. I would never go back there or recommend it to anyone else.

Don’t let the photos fool...
Liked: There’s on-site parking for guests. There are less homeless hanging out in this area. It’s a walking distance to the downtown Hilo core.
Disliked: It’s a dump. The continental breakfast is a joke. Our fist morning there, one woman cleared our half the buffet. No replenishment happens. The staff are young college types that don’t care. There’s has been no maintenance on Thai whole property for decades. It’s all broken. The photos are 100% deceptive.

Some rough edges, questionable housekeeping,...
Liked: Only affordable room I could find in walking distance of downtownNice GM, easy check-inBreakfast was adequateBig closetCommon areas nice. Nice open air balcony overlooking nice gardenSeat and table available in open air hallway.Public shared backup toilet/shower available.Location is 5 min walk to downtown so great location.Under renovation so they're making improvements.Self-serve supply room was convenientFree laundromat was convenient although I didn't use it.
Disliked: Room 14 shower has no hot water(too bad cuz shower seemed new). Public shared shower was warm thoughToilet paper roll inexplicably disappeared! Found this out...too late in the process. At least I could fetch a roll myself from supply room (after I managed to find spare toilet paper bits in my luggage).Bathroom window won’t closeWifi- 5mbps upload. Works but painfully slow.No cups in room but coffee cups available in lobby. Could use a desk but not a big deal. You can pull in a hallway table or work in nice lobby. No fan control that I could figure outFridge not cleaned outNo tv but I probably missed that on the listing.Housekeeping took towels and didn’t replace themWindow drape held up by thumbtacks that fell out.Strange collapsed house in the back.Seems understaffed and underfunded. Could be nice boutique with some renovations and more/better housekeeping staff. Renovations were underway so there's hope. You're paying for the location, not the luxury. If it you can stomach the rough edges, and make sure you have toilet paper, it's a place to sleep, shower and have breakfast without an Uber ride to downtown.
