Lovely staff, good food great...

Liked: Really comfortable bed with quality bedding great duvet. Really friendly and exceptionally helpful staff. Size of room really good including a lounge area. Bit too big for just one night but chosen as it was en-suite. Decor choices weee really good except the volume of plastic plants!
Disliked: It identifies as a hotel but it’s a pub with rooms above. So Saturday lunchtime check in was dealt with quickly but the bar area was really busy, good sign but there was no dedicated checking area as it was at the bar. So left getting in the way at the bar with luggage as parking is a walk away. Both the bedroom and bathroom have suffered with damp. It is an old building and the bathroom not that well ventilated and the small shower cubicle could do with a really good clean of the grout and water collection areas. The areas affected definitely need arts too and redecoration. So for £160 a night with breakfast a room above a pub was a bit over priced. But seems to be a the going rate locally. But as we were the only occupants it’s not that well priced.

Disliked: The owners particularly the women owner was the rudest person I have ever met she was very intimidating and made us feel very afraid due to her aggressive nature

Pleasant stay and excellent breakfast...

Liked: Central location. Nice atmosphere in the bar. Good food. Good size rooms and comfortable beds.
Disliked: Room not serviced due to difficulty of getting staff to work on Christmas day, but owners could have easily restocked room of tea, milk etc.Parking space and parking fees not included.

Friendly and lovely

Liked: Really warm welcome after a long drive. It’s a very friendly and lovely pub. Food was great, room very comfortable, and lots of Christmas cheer downstairs in the pub. Very dog friendly, which was much appreciated by our old and frail dog.

Fine for a room, but...

Liked: Location, cleanliness
Disliked: Accessing the room via the fire escape because they had put tables across the internal stairs. The noise - don’t stay unless you are happy to be up at midnight. The food, breakfast was good, evening meal not near the quality of nearest competitors.
