Non existent service

Liked: The building is lovely, and was overall clean.
Disliked: No character, very few staff around. Bar and reception closed on Saturday evening, after informing us it would be open.No comfortable places to sit, either in room or the public guest spaces.We were celebrating Ruby wedding anniversary but had nowhere to go from 7pm except our room.Owners were leaving and had all but given up, so the service was almost non existent. Didn't cater for dietary needs even though they had been informed. Evening meals cancelled a week before as they no longer had chef.We chose this place because it had a restaurant and bar, and there's nothing else in vicinity, but they decided to not provide that service after we had booked.Overall not worth what we paid for it, didn't make our anniversary special at all sadly!

Liked: Breakfast was good thank you, staff very polite and helpful in finding us a place to eat!!! As we had a phone call the day before we came to say there would be no evening meals.
Disliked: Bathroom sink was damaged!!! Cold tap would not turn off, mattress was no very comfortableI though I booked an upstairs room but we got a downstairs room and it was not private!!!

Exceptional

Liked: The staff were really friendly and accommodating, I made a special request for the room to be decorated for my wife and they went above and beyond my expectations. The breakfast was really nice, bed was comfy and we both really enjoyed our stay. The location is perfect for a visit to Alton towers and we will definitely be coming back.
