Comfortable with a good starting...

Liked: Room was perfect for my use as a volunteer for National trust. Breakfast started the day well and was both substantial and good. The owners were very friendly and gave readily of their time and local knowlage
Disliked: Not much if anything

It was a comfortable country...

Liked: Lovely rustic room. All facilities plenty of hot water. Hosts on site but not intrusive. Some lovely pets. My room was totally self contained.on the down so I had a kitchen that had everything you could need.. breakfasts were substantial and the hosts were charming.
Disliked: On the downside there was only one pub within walking distance and when I got there it was fully booked.although they did find me a table eventually The food in the pub could have been better. All this was in no way, the hotels fault.

WHEELGATE

Liked: The Wheelgate is set in a lovely quiet location, and we had the Derwent room overlooking the lovely garden, fields and views of the mountains. Our room was very spacious and the bed was extremely comfortable. Water,tea,milk,sugar and biscuits are plentiful and you only have to ask if you need more. WiFi is excellent and there is a freeview tv in the room.Breakfast is fantastic with cereals, fruit,yogurt and orange juice for starters. I would recommend the full English breakfast with toast which is very well cooked but you can have whatever you want if you ask the hosts. The coffee was my choice of drink but there is tea and even water if that's what you prefare. The hosts Stuart and Sandy are a lovely couple with a good sense of humour and are very knowledgeable about the lake district so just ask them if you need to know anything. They do have 4 dogs and a cat but do ask the residents if it is OK for them to come and say hello to them after breakfast is finished in the dining area. The animals are very friendly and just love to be around people. Thomas the cat as a fantastic personality and very adorable.. There is parking at the Wheelgate so no problem finding a parking spot.
