Liked: Returning guests and a very pleasant stay again! Lovely spacious room, great breakfast which is available as room service which is very handy with a toddler! Great location for stop over further north.

Lovely country house hotel, within...

Liked: We had dinner and breakfast. Excellent food and service. All staff were welcoming and no request was too much trouble.We had a fridge in the room, although the other room did not. Also, iron, ironing board hairdryer and tea making facilities were in a cupboard in the room. The room and bathroom were spotless.Even though there was a wedding celebration when we arrived, we were treated very well. No noise problems either.
Disliked: We have absolutely no complaints.

Fantastic Location

Liked: Location and grounds were spectacular with autumn colours and bright sunshine
Disliked: Cooked breakfast was very disappointing. Meal was very very dry, Bacon, Sausage, scrambled egg ! It needed baked beans or chopped tomatoes to add some liquid food. Also no tomato/brown sauce on tableWalking outside to get from venu to bedroom up a steep hill was not great. Luckily it was not raining during our stay

Disliked: Two things that I find an issue with a number of hotels these daysPoor lighting. There were 4 lamps but no central general light which just makes the whole place look dingy and looking for something in my case for example was a painUnexpected extra charges. The food was very good. It was a premium price but worth it. I was not expecting a service charge on top. The staff were excellent, but should be paid a good wage without this sort of charge, which I am not sure if they even get. What makes it worse is that I did not see any reference to the charge on the menu. Also there was an additional £1 to a local charity added to my bill. £1 is not a lot, but once again I don't like being charged unexpectedly for anything.
