A short stay in Madrid

Liked: Location is a big bonus for this traditional hotel. Walkable to many of the main sights in Madrid and excellent for wandering the Retiro Park. The VIP lounge was handy to have for snacks and coffee and of course a lovely terrace. Juan at the VIP club was excellent and very helpful!
Disliked: I did expect a larger room with more comfortable beds and perhaps a pillow menu. I requested a different pillow late at night and had to call twice before I actually got one. Air conditioning was also a problem since it would not cool as much as we needed. Had a repair guy in our room at 2.00 am in the morning checking the vent and changing something which helped a little and had to request a fan. Breakfast was also not very exciting. It felt like the same offerings every day. The expectation for a five star hotel is that everything is going to be high quality. That's what you are paying for and this place was not quite up to that standard.

Liked: The breakfast buffet was excellent as was the service if you requested a la carte. The hotel has a great location, excellent staff and we were very happy to stay there.
