Liked: Staff were amazing. Service incredible. Pool and facilities good.
Disliked: Extremely over priced. Some areas needed lots of work. Sewage/ drains were a problem.

Nice but not value for...

Liked: Manor House is a lovely old building. Gym is free. Nice views. Location is very beautiful. Jacuzzis outside are a really clever relaxing touch!
Disliked: Please be aware that the Island Hotel consists of two separate buildings, and you may end up staying in the more modern building, which looks nothing like the one shown in the photos. In my opinion, this is quite misleading, as the difference isn’t obvious unless you read the fine print. The bathroom also doesn’t match the pictures — it's very outdated. There’s no breakfast included in the price which for. UK hotel over a certain price it really should be, and access to the spa is only free between 7am and 9am; outside of that time, there's an additional charge. The gym is very small, and to get to it you’re required to wear used, wet, shoe covers, which is quite off-putting.

It's a grand old building...

Liked: Waterton Park is a beautiful setting, and the swimming pool has a great view over the lake. We were in the newer building (i.e. not on the island in the lake) and the room was huge and shower very powerful.
Disliked: Included in the price for the room, you can only use the swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna between 7am and 9am in the morning (outside of those times an additional charge is payable) which is a bit limiting.

Liked: loved the location. The staff and the hotel. The hot breakfast was good. Bar very good.
Disliked: continental choice at breakfast is a bit boring. it would be better if the waitress served the coffee Im not a fan of percolated coffee and hate having to wait in line only then to have to wait for it to be refilled. juice was warm and not served chilled. the direction to the hall is a bit squiffy. We turned our sat nav off on arrival only to find that we had arrived at the spa it could do with an arrow pointing straight ahead as in carry straight on to the hall. unfortunately not knowing the area we turned around and ended up on a bumpy road unfortunately there was no signal so couldnt use sat nav maybe the younger generation would of coped better but us oldies struggle with technology. Bathroom a bit odd shower screen very narrow and the loo is slightly in the shower so you need to point it at the wall or it goes absolutely everywhere bit odd having to lean against shower wall.

Liked: The location is fantastic
Disliked: The room cleaning seems to be slow. Our check in was delayed as the rooms were not cleaned by the 3pm check-in time. Even though we had been asked about our arrival time and we stated 2pm. On the second day we returned to our room around 2pm to get ready for the wedding we were attending to find our room had not been cleaned. The maid arrived as I was getting ready so in the end we did not get our room serviced. This was disappointing considering how much we had paid. Getting in and out of the shower was challenging for anyone with the slightest as mobility issues as it was a shower over the bath which was exceptionally high up.

Disliked: Before booking I called the hotel and asked about what time the bar closes and they replied early hours in the morning, when we checked in I again asked the same question and got the same answer which were great. We went out and did what we wanted came back and walked into bar area about 10.50 hoping to get a couple of drinks each and when asked we where told that the bar was closed, I then said when we checked in they said it’s open till early hours and the 2 staff said no they are all closed, so we just had to go back to the cottage with no drink. I did speak to the staff on the morning and they said that shouldn’t have happened to guest's and sorry,
