Weekend in Derry
Liked: Check in was quick and easy, guy on reception (didn't get his name) was quite nice, Dinner was lovely and dinner service staff were quite attentive. The bar man was friendly and could make some recommendations, Wi-Fi was pretty good throughout the hotel, .rooms were clean and well equipped with kettle, Tea, coffee making facilities. Would have liked a little corner table to go with the chair in the corner, bathroom was kept clean, checkout was quick
Disliked: Only 5 channels in thr tv in the room and the phone didn't work..dinner experience the previous night was spoilled a bit by the breakfast staff next morning. The printed key card holder states and we were told breakfast was from 08:30 to 10:30 saturday and Sunday so we came down at 10:15, however we discovered they started taking everything away and closing up by 10..we were made feel like an inconvenience and we were in the way. Having to set up for a wedding (in the function room) was not an acceptable excuse) we did get breakfast but felt they weren't happy doing it..The French toast was horrible, bacon was too greasy and fatty and wasnt nice, no gluten free section laid out but I can see why the cornflakes and gluten free bread are kept in the kitchen, Sometimes ppl who aren't coeliac or gluten intolerant take it because it's there.. then next morning the lady server couldn't let it go..had to pass comment again "oh yer down earlier this time" no need for that..its no ones fault you want to pack up early.. location is about an hr walk into the city, going through the park is nice though, walking back at night not so much..we went back to the room Saturday night, TV came on, we turned it off to watch derry girls on netflix but when we went to switch it back on again it wouldn't respond..tried calling down to reception but phone dead, tried calling reception on the mobile but the Indian chap couldn't hear me, marched down to them, reported all issues to him re phone TV and breakfast carry on but doubt anything was passed onto anyone, i did say we didn't need anything done at the time as had a tiring day but said it again when we checked out to the really nice chap who served us the dinner Friday night so they can be fixed for the next guests. The noise from the wedding was annoying to say the least.
