Unique immersion into the Hawaiian...

Liked: It is one of the most unique and interesting boutique hotels we have ever stayed, and we travel around the world about 6 times a year. The room and layout makes you feel immersed in the Hawaiian rainforest, with all the windows and wrap around decking. It is truly an amazing experience.
Disliked: The window shades could use an additional blackout cover. They seemed to be see through with interior lights on and also let in a fair amount of moonlight and the landscape lighting. It was by no means bad, but if you are worried about a little more privacy for some "fun" time it can leave you wondering if someone will catch a view. If light bothers you for sleep just get a eye cover, but honestly it's not bad enough to take away from the unique experience.

Idiosyncratic, out of date, over...

Liked: Cute bungalow, secluded and quiet
Disliked: Heating system was Victorian. And yes you do need heat at that altitude. A gas stove, nice looking, was fine for evening but at night we had to turn it off… blower noise and way too hot. No choice between on and off. So in the morning, the room is freezing, and the stove takes hours to warm it up. Just one example of the general level of uncomfortableness in this otherwise charming place. At the pretty high price, the lodge felt seriously overpriced.

Amazing experience near Volcanoes National...

Liked: The location was great. It's very close to Volcanoes National Park as well as a fairly easy drive from Hilo and Kona. The breakfasts were absolutely wonderful and more than we could eat. The room was very large and the beds were comfortable. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Carlos and John were great! They booked a Hula dance instructor (Kumu Male) for our family to have a private lesson. This cultural experience greatly exceeded our expectations. Our daughters absolutely loved it. If you are looking for a great place to stay near Volcano don't look any farther.

Do not miss staying at...

Liked: Do not miss staying at Volcano Village! The room was beautiful and had all conveniences. The porch had 2 rocking chairs, I spent time in the morning drinking coffee on the porch and a glass of wine in the evening! Bed was comfortable and the room very clean. Do not hesitate to book when you read no TV - they have a DVD player in the room and a section of DVD's in the office.One thing to note - the Customer Service was excellent above and beyond expectation. I received several text messages double checking on me to make sure I had what I needed. After a long day of driving, I received a text - Do you need anything? Yes, can you please put some wine in my room? Trust me the wine was there and I was relieved as the stores closest to the Lodge have a lot to be desired - very little to offer at high prices.The breakfast provided was amazing. I'm not telling you what was served - you need to Easy to heat up in the microwave and included fresh fruit. Co go there and find out! You will not be disappointed! Coffee maker with coffee in the room.I would love to go back and stay again.One last thing - office staff was so friendly and really made me feel at home! To receive text messages to double check that I have what I needed was a wonderful added bonus and experience.
Disliked: There is nothing that I would complain about or did not like.

Beautiful cabin in the jungle...

Liked: I loved our beautiful cabin and the people working there were amazing. Everyone was very kind and helpful.
Disliked: The price was very high and I wish I had stayed at a cheaper accommodation, all things considered. I thought the cabin was in the national park itself, so thought the price was appropriate, but when I realized we were very close but not actually inside the park, I was disappointed. I wasn’t familiar enough with the area, which is my own responsibility. The hot tub would have been perfect, but it was very cloudy and dirty looking.

Liked: The bungalow was gorgeous. The loft attic offers a beautiful tranquility.
Disliked: The space smells very moldy. My whole family got sick by the end of our two-night stay. There was also no way to properly heat up the space without the fireplace, and the fireplace seemed to worsen the moldy smell. Without the moldy smell this would have been a perfect stay.
