Good stay in an isolated...

Liked: The room was fine and it is close to Lassen Volcanic National Park. It is a beautiful little valley pretty much all by itself.
Disliked: The room was basic with no frills. If you want to be in an isolated place all by yourself this is a great place. There is no Internet and food and restaurant choices are extremely limited. There was only one open restaurant in the area when we were there and there were no restaurant options for breakfast.

Overpriced for the value.

Disliked: Wi-Fi was supposed to have been included, but was down. TV had no service. No discount on rooms due to this inconvenience. Supposed to have 2 restaurants, one low price. Low price was not open most days. High priced was way overpriced.

Convenient location but limited facilities...

Liked: A good sized room and comfortable bed in a convenient location after our day in Lassen Volcanic National Park. The dinner we had in the restaurant was good quality albeit not cheap, likewise breakfast.
Disliked: When we checked in the manager (?) said she had messaged me to warn me they had no hot water (a message I never received), owing to the recent major fire. Of course that couldn't be helped and she did give us the option of a full refund or $50 discount. With nowhere else to stay in the area of we had to choose the latter. We had no WiFi in the room and although there was a hotspot at the nearby store, standing outside a shop to write emails etc isn't ideal. We were able to get online in the hotel across the road when we went for dinner but again, not ideal. The onsite bistro was closed in the evening so our only dinner option was the hotel restaurant which was quite expensive. The food was good but the service poor. We waited about 45 minutes between appetiser and main courses, and although our waitress apologised there was no offer of a free drink or discount to compensate. The next morning the bistro was open but with no indoor seating and temperatures not much above freezing we again felt we had no choice but to eat in the expensive hotel restaurant!

OK but motel like rooms...

Liked: The location was great, staff friendly and the bed was comfortable.
Disliked: No wifi at all and the cell coverage was sketchy or non existent. The smell coming from the bathrooms, either from the septic tank or drains was terrible. The “Hotel” rooms were not much more than glorified motel rooms. The cottages look much better. I would advise to book these rather than the “hotel” room

A great chance to rest...

Liked: After a long drive, the dinner we received at the restaurant was excellent. The room was very comfortable and it was easy to unload the car. Parking was convenient. The staff, especially the clerk that checked us in and made it a point to call us ahead of time to tell us about the Park Fire, went above and beyond helping us navigate our stay. I liked the posters in our room, they were retro but cool.
Disliked: The Park Fire ruined what would have been a great two night stay. We realize that this was out of anyone's control, but it really messed up the whole adventure of seeing Mt. Lassen.

Superb

Liked: We liked the lawn chairs in the evening and chocolate milkshakes at Franks.
Disliked: Unit 8 door was very difficult to close, and had to be forced shut. It would be nice if the rooms had access to wifi.
