Disappointed quality vs level or...

Liked: Disappointed. No direct access between rooms, fitness and pool. For not a 4star but 3.Simple room, need management for design and furnitures, space but not thinking for nice stay for two. It's was for le a gift for Christmas. . Good food at. Restaurant. Too small bed for two people. I suggest buy a suite but expensive . Get there for the scenic view, not in winter. Below my expectations. That gives me a bad idea of rooms size on the great Victoria.
Disliked: Look old, maybe staff designated wrong room.

Disliked: The tub didn't drain. I had to wedge it open to allow it to drain. It was taking hours.

Disappointing - 2.0 out of 5

huge disappointment. We definitely did...

Liked: The Restaurant had great breakfasts and views, and servers. The only disappointment with the restaurant was the toast that would come out smelling/tasting like expired oil -- I guess they sometimes grill the toast w canola oil, But servers and staff are very nice and quick to fix issues. The rest of the breakfast is amazing - the best I would say I've eaten in a long time -- and we had 5 breakfasts there, and other than that toast issue, each breakfast had amazing food. We stayed as a group in multiple rooms, and all of us enjoyed our breakfasts
Disliked: 1. Although staff had a nice smile, they didn't seem to care if anything went wrong in our Master room. They advertise a gas fireplace, but it didn't work in our room. Staff came to check and basically said, Oh well. Then the toilet overflowed with water from the tank so that water was flooding in the washroom. I called staff quite concerned because we absolutely need to be able to use the toilet at night. Staff said he would see if maintenance could come and call me back to update me. He never called back. Over an hour later I called, and was told that staff person was on break for another 20 minutes, and that maintenance was home for the night. That was it -- nothing else. With my coaxing, the current staff person said that she would get him (the first staff) to come when he gets back from break. My husband then took the lid off the tank, found a hose had come loose, fixed it, went to the front desk (which is a walk outside a ways), and got towels. Thankfully for hubby, otherwise I don't know what I would have done because clearly the hotel was not at all interested in helping There were no offers of moving us to another room with a functioning toilet, or anything. Definite impression of "I don't care", even tho we had 3 rooms for 4 nights and a 4rth for 1 night (total of 13 nights paid) .2. Run down - lamp w bad water staining, walls were looking old, furniture worn, the zuccuzzi tub was very dirty, no hooks in the bathroom to hang anything - just a bar about 10 feet away from the shower.3. We came with family, their door lock kept not working, the coffee machines didn't work for them. Staff helped them but they would come out to the front desk to ask for help, where other clients were as well.We wondered if the owners must either be trying to sell the hotel and so not putting anything into maintenance or care of clients, or they really don't care, or they really don't know what's happening

A pleasant oasis with a...

Liked: The view of the fjord from the balcony was to die for. The grounds have a few paths to walk so as to take in the natural surroundings. The room was extremely spacious and provided all the amenities of comfort: separate living space with couch and coffee table to watch TV, Nespresso machine with complimentary pods, a small frig, robes and slippers, simple vanity kit, workspace, large closet, etc.
Disliked: The turn off/onto the highway can be a bit tricky and dangerous and you can hear the sound of traffic when out on the balcony. Breakfast isn’t included and given the price of the stay and lack of options apart from the hotel’s Alpina Restaurant, you feel forced to hand over additional money out of convenience. Although the restaurant is highly rated, our first night dining there was a disaster. We had reservations and after looking at the menu for 15 minutes and ordering, it took another hour for them to bring out our order when the restaurant was practically empty. Based on the poor attitude of the waitress, I’d say she forgot to put in the order. When the food came out, it looked as if the staff had run out of ingredients as the plates were nearly empty, this despite our reservation for four. No apology, no complimentary bread, appetizers, drinks or dessert, nothing to account for the wait; simply unacceptable. This contrasts to the other night when we dined and the 3 breakfasts we had which were top notch in terms of service and food quality/quantity. I would also recommend that heaters be installed on the terrace as well as seat cushions and additional blankets be procured for added comfort as it gets chilly in the evening.
