Lovely stay

Liked: Really great location, we were visiting my mother in law and this hotel is just around the corner from her home. Portknockie is a lovely place, Lorraine was super friendly with the dog and really helpful giving recommendations. Lovely view from our room - parking right outside the hotel. We really enjoyed our stay and can't wait to come back!
Disliked: The bed was slightly uncomfortable for us however that's just a personal preference. The bed creeked a little when getting on and off it or turning over in th night, we didn't see any staff during our stay to let them know. For us this wasn't an issue at all as we were visiting family. We would both still book again cos our stay was lovely!

Exceptional

Great location but too smelly...

Liked: 1. Location - in the centre of town, 5 minute walk to the Bow Fiddle Rock.2. Double Room with Sea View was reasonably spacious. The view, however, was a bit of a token.3. Continental breakfast included in room price - basic selection, but it kept us going in the mornings.4. Kettle, tea, coffee and milk provided in the room.5. Free WiFi.6. Free parking.
Disliked: 1. There was a strong, nauseating smell in the room, coming from the carpet.2. The room was very cold in the mornings, as the heating was switched off during the night.3. Breakfast room was freezing - the heaters were never turned on.4. There was nowhere to store our personal items in the bathroom, not a single shelf or cupboard.5. Every time we flushed the toilet, a loud, roaring noise, similar to a truck engine, would come from the pipes and would continue for 5 minutes. This is was especially troublesome at night.6. Cracked, plastic drinking cups were a bit of a let down. 7. No mini fridge in the room.8. No table, just two chairs.

Liked: Location, cleanliness, breakfast included, private bathroom and restaurant. The dining is exceptional along with the staff!

An absolute lovely stay

Liked: All I can say is wow. We were made to feel so welcome right from the word go. The room had sea views and the food served in the evening was absolutely divine. Very happy to come back to the hotel.
Disliked: nothing

A delightful stay in a...

Liked: Spacious, well furnished and comfortable room;beautifully cooked, very reasonably priced evening meal available on premises;excellent continental breakfast at an astoundingly cheap price.
Disliked: Problem with shower because of missing rubber washer??Flimsy bedside lamps.

Very good

Liked: Location was super central and bowfiddle rock/coastal path to Cullen were all extraordinarily close. The owners were super friendly! Dinner (not included) was also very tasty and they had an excellent bar assortment. Breakfast was simple but adequate. Rooms were very comfortable.
