Disappointing - 2.0 out of 5

Disappointing

Liked: Quiet hotel, clean, comfy ish bed just small
Disliked: Bed too small for someone 6ft and it was classed as a superior room, looked dark and dated, bathroom was nice but freezing cold and main light didn't work. Bedroom was cold in the night and very thin pillows and quilt. TV signal didn't work most of the time so barely used the room.

The valdene bnb

Liked: Location great, north shore not far from the pier and sea front and train station. Very polite and friendly host.
Disliked: Most of the reviews online are historical, when the previous owners ran the hotel. It doesn't have a bar now, the full cooked breakfast doesn't include bacon or any pork products, so no black pudding and the sausages weren't pork. The rooms are small but clean, good towels, but my sink in the tiny shower room didn't have a plug so I couldn't shave. The hotel is dated and needs redecorated but it's so difficult for these tiny business to survive, let alone make a big enough profit to invest in upgrading. The guy running the place was very polite and accommodating tho, I felt a bit sorry for him. Don't set your expectations high and you won't be too disappointed. It's a big mistake not to have a bar but I think.its a cultural.issue. id stay again at a push.
