You’d be okay with it...
Liked: Belter of a location- would be spot on for first time visitors to Liverpool and tourists. Close to literally everything; the town hall, the docks/ pier head, the Tate and the Open Eye gallery, Lime Street and Central Station, Liverpool one and the Church Street shops- plus lots of lovely bars and restaurants around- not a far walk from anything in the city centre. There’s something for everyone!! Beds reasonably comfy- shower was quite nice (minus the mould) and stayed hot for a good while- views from our window were lovely!
Disliked: You can get far far better for a few quid more expensive/ the exact same price, of a weekday especially. The rooms were very very run down. One out of 3 light switches didn’t work- and neither did the hairdryer or the television. The windows didn’t seem to open, but the one by our beds was broken open sound the seal- the air conditioner wouldn’t stay switched off either- so the room was freezing. There was no ventilation so the whole room was fogged up for hours after using the shower which wasn’t ideal for working, there was also mould on the shower head and the shower head is attached to the wall so you can’t take it down. The paint in our room was peeling and scuffed in lots of places, and there was a big crack by the window. The curtains are barely attached to the wall and have clearly been ragged about etc. There is no kettle in the room which I’m sure is stated somewhere but considering all the other faults in think it might be a nice touch to at least let people make a brew for free. Check out is also very early even by the standard which is usually 11am- cleaning staff entered our room at 9:45 to inform us checkout was at 10am. Also the doors provide zero soundproofing, any single noise in the corridors will sound like it’s in the room with you. I’m not too bothered about the low standards, and I’ve slept in much worse places, however for a standard rate room, it should be better. As I said all of these things would be excusable if the hotel was seriously cheap- but it’s not in comparison to everything else Liverpool has to offer.
