TRYP by Wyndham Newark Downtown, Newark

When we got to our room there was only one bed (thought I booked 2 beds); no chair and we had what looked like dried blood on our light switch! Called the front desk. They changed our room. We still had only 1 bed and when I pulled the bedding down there was hair in the bed. We were exhausted and made the best of it. Hoping never to go back!

Liked: Bathroom was nice.
Disliked: Blood on our light switch; hair in my bed.

Liked: Clean, pleasant, everything was amazing for me including extra towels. Easy access to foods, and prudential center...all walking distance including newark Penn station

I liked my stay at...

Liked: Room size was excellent, including a great shower, and the bed was large and comfortable. The hotel was clean and the room service was always done well. The view wasn't great but I can't fault the hotel on this because I did not ask for any special view. The location was good, not far from cafes and the park and the railway station.
Disliked: Nothing, really. I was very pleased with the hotel and would recommend it for anyone looking for a hotel in Newark and/or if you want to be close to NYC.

Great place to stay if...

Liked: The location is great. Plenty of shops and restaurants in Downtown Newark in less than minutes by foot. Manhattan is also easy to reach taking a direct train from Newark Penn Station, which is a 10-minute walk. The staff was very friendly, the room was spacious and bed was comfortable. I enjoyed having Directv as well and the complimentary shuttle to Newark Liberty Airport.
Disliked: There was nothing to dislike

Liked: The location was fabulous, being near Penn Station.Most of the staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful.The food in the restaurant was tasty and well presented.
Disliked: We were woken around 0300 with an almighty noise when the bins at the rear of the property were being emptied. We were hoping for a drink in the bar when we returned to the hotel around 2200, but it was already closed.We needed to evacuate the building around 0600 one morning, due to a fire alarm. There were no staff to be found and no explanation given later. The electricity wasn’t due back on until 1130, which isn’t the hotel’s fault, however, a note informing us of this would have been appreciated.Poor customer service.
