Poor - 0.5 out of 5

Bad

Liked: The pub.
Disliked: Everything else. The carpets were caked in dirt from a thousand dirty shoes and frayed, especially on the stairs. The ceiling above my shower showed mould, as did the plastic surrounding of the electric shower. The glass shelf once fitted above the sink in the bedroom was leaning behind the sink on the floor, and there were several holes in the wall where the fitments used to be. The whole place reeked of someone's very bad attempt at DIY. The owners couldn't pay me enough to stay there again.Booking.com should be disgusted and vet their recommendations much better before exposing them to the public.

Would definitely book again on...

Liked: The price. Clean, comfortable and friendly. Outdated and in need of TLC, but we weren't The about to take up residence.
Disliked: The noisy pair of couples in the bar but the choice of real ales compensated.

Exceptional

Liked: The lovely location, the comfortable bed, the bathroom, the breakfast, the bar.
Disliked: Not enough plug sockets that work, and one of the bedside lamps didn't work. Needs a bit of decorating, but didn't affect our comfort. Had a good sleep, but could have blackout curtains to keep the light out on the morning

Don’t ever go there.

Liked: Nothing except location
Disliked: Everything. Dirty and outdated. Rude and indifferent staff. In desperate need of renovation inside and out. Terrible breakfast. Overpriced.

Pleasant, friendly stay, although the...

Liked: The room was a good size, the staff were friendly, and checking in and out was easy. Coffee/tea etc. provided in the room, and the Internet worked fine.
Disliked: The bathroom was large but in need of some repair/updating (the whole tap rotated, leaving the spout in the wrong place, when trying to turn it off!) and the shower water pressure and temperature were really poor. The breakfast options were quite limited (no fruit, yoghurt, croissants etc.), although the scrambled egg and salmon or avocado toast with egg were nice.

. Would only stay here...

Liked: The bar area is welcoming and comfortable. We enjoyed the meal we ate in the evening in the restaurant..just Indian food is served in the evenings. The bed was comfortable, with tea and coffee facilities in our room and plenty of toiletries in the bathroom. The staff were polite and friendly.
Disliked: Going up the stairs and into the bedroom, the carpets and paintwork were really neglected and dirty-looking. The carpet in our room looked as if it was beyond cleaning and had large threadbare patches. The paintwork and walls need to be completely re-done and it was difficult to see what colour the curtains were supposed to be. Breakfast is quite limited and bacon not available. Although Oxford is an expensive city to stay in and this hotel appears to be reasonably priced, we wouldn't want to stay here again . The overall feeling in the room and bathroom is that they are neglected and not clean. There is another hotel close by. It's a pity as this is an attractive building , Iffley is a beautiful village and the frequent buses to town are just around the corner.
