Good location near Nelson's center.
Liked: Good location near Nelson's center. The onsite restaurant offered great breakfasts and dinners (which we tried). Setting on the river was lovely.
Disliked: The parking lot was a bit small and some places were reserved, which I never figured out who got to reserve a spot. We did manage to park in the lot.

When the car park is...
Liked: 2 metre walk from the room to the car making it easy to load luggage and leave quickly
Disliked: Not sure what happened here but we ended up with the worst room with a door opening to the car park and paid $495 for 1 night. Strange to be advertising that the room has a balcony when it is located on the ground floor looking at cars parked only 2 metres away (see pics of what the hotel considers to be your balcony outlined in red). I thought it must be a mistake but the hotel insisted that all rooms have a balcony.Maybe in Nelson they have another definition for a balcony but the universally accepted definition is that "a balcony is a platform enclosed by a wall orĀ balustradeĀ on the outside of a building usually above ground floor". It seems the hotel considers a space where other guests can walk through on their way to or from the pool or to and from their cars to be your balcony and perhaps consider the cars to be the balustrade.There were other rooms available looking out over the river for $335 a night however reception would not refund the difference seeming to shift blame to booking.com's payment processing system. I contacted booking.com who indicated they could not understand why the hotel could not refund the difference because payments are not handled by booking.com so reception was either lying, couldn't be bothered or needs training.
