Terrible experience

Disliked: We were chased by a huge rat on Friday (28/03/25) in the hotel lobby. There were 3 of us panicking as the rat was blocking the door as we tried to get out. When we tried to get closer to the door the rat ran full force towards us, it was awful. We lodged a complaint on Friday giving them the exact time so they could check the cctv. I asked the receptionist could she just confirm that they got the rat out of the hotel, she couldnt. I asked if pest control was called she said no. I missed a call from the hotel on Saturday afternoon when I called back around 4.30 a guy hung up on me. I called back straight away and a different guy answered. I explained what had happened. He said "if this happened in the lobby then the rat must be from the restaurant or its a council issue". I explained this definitely happened, watch the cctv and we weren't in the restaurant and we weren't on the street when this happened, we were in your hotel. He said someone would call me back, they haven't. At no point has anyone apologised or taken the time to explain if this is a regular issue or that they organised pest control to make sure it was gone. Instead they blamed the restaurant next door and the council. If you are not taking responsibility for what happens to guests in your lobby then why provide a key card to access it? Why hang a sign outside the door? Have a branded carpet there? Put an advertisement in the window if you're not going to accept responsibility for what happens to guests there. What if someone is assaulted or injured in the lobby will that be a council issue too? When guests have reported being chased around your lobby by a rat why not apologise, make them assured you have immediately organised pest control and the rat is no longer on the premises. Needless to say we avoided the hotel for the rest of our trip.

Liked: Great location near my favourite The Central Market. The rooms while small are well designed for the business traveller and very comfortable. The staff are always very helpful and friendly
Disliked: The mattress on the bed is a little hard but okay
