Good food, poor room

Liked: Lovely food and bar. The downstairs is lovely! Comfy bed….
Disliked: A soon as you left the reception it goes downhill. The smell is awful. The carpet must be ancient or never cleaned. The rooms are dated and just don’t match to downstairs. Our room was small with limited facilities. The room was a heat trap in December. Needs updating

It was not good value...

Liked: The location and the village was really lovely. It was warm and the fire was most welcome
Disliked: It was generally rather tired looking, the carpet in the restaurant and our room was stained and looked grubby. There was very little sitting area in the bar and the lounge was a long way away. The Friday meeting of the Pudding club certainly came first and hotel guests came second.

Perfectly fine if you want...

Liked: Lovely breakfast buffet with friendly staff.Spacious room with a nice shower.
Disliked: I've never stayed in a room with so many stains on the carpet.I rang down to reception to see if there was any decaf coffee for the coffee machine in the room and was told that they'd check and get back to me but I never heard anything more.Having spent the previous few days in both a luxury B&B and an Air B&B, I felt they were far more value for money than the hotel with more up-to-date facilities.

Fab hotel

Liked: Location. Friendly staff, great breakfast, room was great clean and tidy, mattres and pillows were lovely.
Disliked: Coffee tray hadn’t been cleaned, it was dusty and stained. Just needed a bit of a re-vamp. Shame they changed the decor in the dinning room. They painted it a stark white and made it look clinical.
