Weekend

Liked: The stay wasn’t quite what we expected, though that’s probably on me for not checking that it’s located on an A1 road. I was so taken by the great reviews that I didn’t check the map at all.That said, the check-in and check-out process was smooth. Our room was clean, the bathroom was spacious and spotless, and the bed was comfortable. However, the medium-hard pillows weren’t great.We had an early dinner, and while the garlic cheese bread was excellent and my husband really enjoyed both the black pudding magic and his chicken parmo, the oriental duck was a real letdown. The duck was overcooked, and the noodles were awful. The manager on duty kindly offered to replace it, but after a long day, I just wanted to eat and head to bed.Breakfast was also underwhelming. My Eggs Benedict were undercooked, and the bacon was overly salty. My husband’s full breakfast was just okay, so I ended up skipping most of mine, only having some yogurt. Unfortunately, we weren’t fans of the coffee and tea either—they were too weak for our liking.

Great location, lovely staff, great...

Liked: Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good value. The tea and coffee could have been hotter. The staff did reheat the coffee in the microwave after we asked.
Disliked: The bathroom was a bit dirty on the floor and on the ledge down the side of the toilet and under the towel rail. The carpet in the bedroom was dirty.

Liked: The meals, both at dinner and breakfast were excellent. Value for money. Restaurant was very busy both Monday and Tuesday. That’s says a lot
Disliked: The plug in the washbasin didn’t work. Heating was not too good but they did provide us with a small radiator. Didn’t detract from our enjoyment of stay
