Comfortable stay, with fantastic breakfast

Liked: Good location with beautiful views
Disliked: Breakfast all done to economise eg. 1 croissant per person cooked and allowed. Dreadful coffee. Only 2 staff for 60 people at breakfast one being the manager impossible for them to cope and give satisfactory service. No lift in Pear Tree mews not brilliant for over 75’s and no offer of help. No bar staff to serve us for a drink so left. No flexible, removable shower head only a fixed overhead, a shower cap would have been appreciated.

Liked: It was a beautiful building set in beautiful grounds. Our room was lovely and the staff were friendly and welcoming. There was lots on offer at breakfast.
Disliked: It was disappointing that our room was in an annex. The weather was lovely otherwise we would have had a wet walk to the main hotel for breakfast. The drains smelled in the annexe and a fire door had to be left open to dissipate the smell. We found the food and drinks to be quite expensive and so decided to eat dinner out both evenings. The breakfast service was understaffed, the two staff members were attempting to carry out Maitre D duties, take orders, serve breakfast, clear and reset the tables between guests. They did that with a smile on their face but you could see how overwhelmed they were. On our first morning we waited half an hour to have our order taken for hot food and waited a further half an hour for the food to come out to the table. The second day there were no cleared down tables so we had to sit on a table with plates and debris from the previous couple for about 20 mins before the overwhelmed staff managed to find time to clear it. One extra member of staff would have made all the difference to service and for me understaffing shows a complete lack of customer care.
