Amazing staff, excellent service -...

Liked: Amazing staff going above and beyond in all aspects. Unfortunately we weren't able to use the room that was booked, but they more than made up for it and made it the perfect stay - thank you to the team for your amazing service. Especially Ashley who did everything she could to make it a stay to remember!

Avoid the Small Bedrooms!

Liked: The staff were friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was excellent.
Disliked: We booked a small double for one night. The room was in the attic and if you are taller than 5’ 7” difficult to manage with the sloping ceilings. We banged our heads multiple times! The staircase to the rooms is also difficult/small and twisting especially with luggage. The lighting was poor in the room and there was no dressing table.Lack of sockets for hair tools/phone charging. No shower (which apparently is in the small print on booking) just a bath with a shower hose. All for just over £180 for one night. Not a 4 star experience sadly for these type rooms.

Passable

Liked: The hotel looked lovely with lots of well designed christmas decorations and a happy atmosphere. Staff were pleasant and polite and there seemed to be plenty of them. Sheets on the beds are high quality and bed was comfortable if a bit squeaky. Breakfast was very good with two perfectly poached eggs and strong fresh coffee, great selection of pastries. Its come a long way since I worked there in the 1980s!
Disliked: The room was in my opinion overpriced by some margin. Even taking in to account stamford abd christmas. Oddly it's the same room I stayed in last time I was there (1) but looking a bit more worn now. Cheif gripe is that at £224.00 per night, I'd like to be able to fit in front of the sink without burning my behind on the towel rail. Its really poorly designed and not workable. The shower is powerful and the water hot, but the old drains aren't capable of handing the water so it went over the lip of the shower and onto the floor. Finally I was woken up repeatedly by people going up and down the stairs outside which echo. Finally if you stay there, the only plug socket you can use is under the window, hidden behind the curtain. Tool me hours to find it so hope that saves you a search. So many positives about the hotel but the price of what I think was a below average room puts me off returning.
