Comfortable Pub Accommodation - excellently...

Liked: Room relatively small but well appointed - good-sized bed, kettle for making hot water, desk and chair, good shower - easy to use. Lighting very good - there are 'directional' small lamps for reading - attached to bedside lamps. Takes a moment or two to work out how to turn on the directional lamps but once this is sorted it is straightforward. The rooms have been fully refurbished - a major refurbishment took some weeks and has been well-done. For a 'pub' it is excellent and extremely comfortable. Note that the reception is at the bar on the ground floor - originally there was a separate reception desk but this has been relinquished and it is necessary to go to the bar area to check in.
Disliked: Note - there are stairs and no elevator - I did not and do not mind this at all as the exercise is fine. However for those who are not so able to climb stairs this could be a problem. Most bedrooms are on the first floor, although 9, 10, 11 have a few extra stairs so if you are not fond of stairs - ask for bedrooms up to 8. If you cannot climb stairs at all then it would be unwise to choose this hotel.

Couldn't have been better -...

Liked: The whole of the hotel had been refurbished since we last stayed earlier in the year - and it was very well done indeed!
Disliked: Unfortunately when we checked in, we weren't told about the car park having to be paid for & we didn't see the notice!When we saw the notice the next day, we contacted the hotel & they kindly told us that if we get a parking ticket we are to let the hotel have the reference number & they will revoke any charges - so that was a relief, thank you!

Liked: Everything! We will look for Green King Hotels for any future visits before checking other hotel providers.
Disliked: Nothing the hotel had recently been renovated and the room was in perfect condition. The bathroom looked as though we were the first people to use it.
