Superb one-night get away

Liked: We arrived early and were welcomed. The weather was awful - Middleham had had a good downfall of snow overnight, albeit a little early. We enjoyed a drink in the bar area whilst our room was ready. Our room was spotlessly clean, with an excellent view of Middleham Castle. We enjoyed a pre-dinner drink in the bar where we met Fiona - the proprietor. What a lovely lady. Our meal was excellent - could not be faulted. After a restful night's sleep, we were delighted to see that the snow has disappeared. Breakfast was absolutely scrumptious. It certainly set us up for the rest of today - Sunday 24th. Very nice to see the race horses being exercised. Fiona explained that Middleham is the Newmarket of the North - many riding stables in the area.Another visit is a MUST. Next time we will take our dog with us to meet Fiona!!
Disliked: The bed mattress was somewhat hard for us - personal preference and no reflection on The Wensleydale Hotel.

Comfortable and convenient with friendly...

Liked: The staff were very friendly and helpful - we needed taxi recommendations and they were able to provide several options for us. We also appreciated that they asked for the breakfast order ahead of time, saving time and food waste. The location was perfect for us.
Disliked: We should have asked about the stairs - we had a couple of older people with us and it would have been better if they had not had to climb multiple floors.

Down at heel hotel in...

Liked: I the point of your visit is to be in MIddleham the location is great - you are right in the middle of town.
Disliked: The Hotel is not as attractive as its description of photos. The Building is need of work. Even though I had Emailed the hotel to secure dinner on the Sunday evening no food was available. Though the owner helpfully recommended a local pub.

Liked: Comfy and clean room and friendly staff. Great location in centre of town.
Disliked: Breakfast was quite basic.
