We stayed for 2 nights while we explored the city and went to see Rising Appalachia featuring Arouna Diarra at Rumba Cafe that is only 2 blocks away from the hostel.
Liked: We loved the whole experience. It was new for us.

Great value and great people
Liked: Nice house, great roommates and common area. A wonderful place to meet new people!
Disliked: It was pretty loud until late at night, so consider bringing earplugs. All in all good value.

Cool space with wonderful staff...
Liked: The house is cozy and my stay exceeded my expectation. Little details tell me this is very thoughtfully run - The name signs on the door, the free lockers, and the maps were all amazing. The staff and volunteers were so responsive and helpful. The common areas were spacious and helped me meet some cool people who were attending the same conference in the city.
Disliked: There could be more heat or thicker blankets. The walls were not the most sound-proof.

Convenient
Liked: I liked off street parking. It had clean and appealing curb side appearance. It was located close to the University Hospital and also many places to eat. It was also easy found by delivery.
Disliked: Too many stairs. I’m physically limited and there were no indications my lodging would have stairs in the adverts. Also, getting in to park was easy. Getting out…not so much.

A "Youth Hostel" not run...
Liked: location
Disliked: This "Youth Hostel" is not managed as a communal shared space as the youth hostels Ive been at are. In fact this place is run more like an air bnb with management completely absent. The first night Dec 20th with below freezing temps my room was unheated and one very thin blanket with a sheet was all that was provided. Management did not answer the phone # in the email. and a fellow travelor provided me with an electric heater and xtra blanket. At 430am Dec 21st very loud noises from all over and inside the house woke me up. Again management was missing. Early morning Dec 22nd at 530am the second night the television/stereo was turned quite loudly to be heard all over the house and again did not allow me to sleep. This is not a AYH youth hostel in any sense of the word. Also the room did not match the photos on booking.com. Attached are photos of the actual room.
