Another great stay at this...
Liked: It was my second stay at this hotel and the facilities are so lovely and the staff so nice and welcoming.
Disliked: The construction in the morning, the hair dryer wasn't that strong and the switch kept getting accidentally turned off as I used it

Ideal location for downtown Manhattan...
Liked: Comfortable room, plenty big enough for us, but decor a little dated and carpets overdue for replacement. We appreciated the all day tea/coffee facility. The breakfast of toast, bagels, tea, coffee, cereal etc was more than adequate for our needs and of better quality than we expected, from other reviews.Location for us was excellent as we were cruising from Brooklyn and it was very easy to get the ferry from Pier 11 to Red Hook, a few minutes walk away. Handy for Wall Street subway stations too and the interesting downtown sites and venues. The journey from JFK was easier than we thought it might be, Airtrain to Jamaica, LIRR to Penn and the red subway line to Wall Street. We are 70 plus with heavy luggage and we managed OK but note that at some subway interchanges, we didn't find a lift so it was a bit of a struggle with the suitcases. It wasn't a cheap stay but for New York it wasn't so bad and less expensive than other establishments we researched, but for us the location was ideal. We would definitely stay again.
Disliked: Lack of fruit juice at breakfast.

Incorrect Room Assignment Due to...
Liked: clean, great location, well decorated
Disliked: I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with a recent booking experience. My friend and I booked a room through Booking.com, specifically requesting two double beds, but were given a room with a king-size bed upon arrival. The hotel staff stated that room types booked through third-party platforms are not guaranteed, which was new information to me despite using Booking dot com for years. As sharing a bed wasn’t an option, I had to sleep on the floor, leading to significant discomfort and body aches. It was Halloween weekend, and with no alternative available, I was left with no choice but to accept the room. This experience did not meet the expectations set by my booking and the premium price I paid.I hope the hotel acknowledges the inconvenience caused and takes appropriate action. Otherwise, I am prepared to dispute this charge through my credit card.####### update 11/4/24: after reading the hotel response #####Flawless?! :))) Please review my earlier message and your response again. It appears as though the (greedy) hotel, which charges approximately $500 per night, is not accepting responsibility for the issue. via a message, I previously requested details about the property policy stated on Booking.com, specifically regarding the room type not being guaranteed. Unfortunately, I have yet to receive a response. I am requesting a full refund and will consider pursuing a dispute with my bank if I do not hear back within the next few days.

Authentic US hotel. Highly recommend.
Liked: Authentic style hotel, was a pleasure staying there. Only a couple min. to the nearest subway. Verry helpfull people at the reception. Thx for getting us a prince friendly taxi to the airport. I would book again if i ever visited again.
Disliked: Orange juice would be nice in the morning. But we had enough breakfast to start our day. So no complaints.

Adequate room in traditional hotel...
Liked: I had a nice enough room in a hotel with a nicely old-fashioned feeling to it. Subway was close by.
Disliked: In terms of breakfast, I would have appreciated a less traditional approach, which healthier options like oatmeal and low-fat, sugar-free yogurt. Also, the AC in the breakfast was blasting cold air right onto my neck. The staff was somewhat unfriendly; I had a hard time getting back my ice packs, which they had put in their freezer for me earlier. (As a side note, I had forgotten how labyrinthian, almost claustrophobic, this part of Downtown was. It lacked the feeling of space that I associate with Manhattan. There also weren't many fast-food places to eat at night.)
