Luxury on a budget.

Liked: Great location in Cairns, close to lots of night food options. The room was beautifully presented, we loved the large bed and aircon after days of camping. Despite not having a bathroom connected it was located nearby. Other shared facilities looked good although we didn’t use them.
Disliked: Bathrooms need better ventilation.

Great hostel in Cairns

Liked: Centrally located, great backpacker vibe. The balcony right next to the kitchen is great to eat with fresh air. Staff are nice and committed. Room and shared bathroom were in very good condition. Working washing machine and dryers.
Disliked: You cannot regulate the AC temperature in room (only guys from reception can). Once you turn it on, it’ll be on for 2 hours, like it or not. Kitchen should be cleaned a bit more thoroughly and it usually gets crowded at peak hours.

The best hostel I’ve stayed...

Liked: The property felt new and easy to navigate around. My room was spacious and clean.
Disliked: That there was no pool, but it wasn’t essential.

Best place to stay in...

Liked: We stayed in a private room, I loved the hazy windows to the corridor, the bed was comfy, the location couldn’t have been better and the goki app (online key) made the system really cool. Before we booked we hesitated between an other hostel with a pool and The Village and we made a good choice: the balcony at The Village is the best place to hang out/eat and the lagoon (a free public pool next to the ocean) is literally 5 minutes away on foot. We also loved the big kitchen. The staff was very friendly and helpful. There was a good gym a block away.
Disliked: The female bathroom on the first floor was running low with soap for a while but after some days the containers got refilled. It was a bit hard to set water temperarure and one tap in the shower was constantly falling off, and two out of the three handwash taps were missing a part or was broken.
