Great location , central for...

Liked: Nice room at the top of the spiral staircase overlooking the park at the front of the hotel. Lovely plentiful breakfasts. We were here for a family wedding in the hotel. The food at the wedding breakfast was delicious. Very nice friendly staff who were welcoming and polite. We had a great time.

A great short stay that...

Liked: A solid breakfast with a mix of cooked and continental choices served buffet style.
Disliked: The filter coffee was extremely weak and I would have quite happily paid for a coffee from the bar that wasn't from that jug but there wasn't a way to request it.

Disappointing

Liked: In all honesty maybe some of the old decor but that's pushing it
Disliked: Iv stayed in many hotels and the truth I'm not overly fussy. This hotel has a touch of old fashion charm but in all honesty it needs work. The breakfast was at best poor. The bedroom was dated but decent enough. The most disappointing thing was the staff. I don't actually blame them direct. They were well enough presented but the service was very poor. Most are very young which is completely fine. But presented as slow unengaging bored and untrained in hospitality. I asked one girl behind the bar where the restaurant was twice and she just looked at me like a rabbit in headlights.i still didn't get an answer and then the young restaurant guy helped with that. Ordering drinks again staff came across as slow and I can't be bothered.

Well organised and well appointed,...

Liked: All of it, from check in to checkout. The hotel is 500 yards from the train station, and so easy to reach, and another 500 from the Esplanade with its wonderful view across the Firth to the Highlands. I think this was my twelfth visit in the last twenty year - it is very reliable.
Disliked: The weather!

Liked: The room with the balcony overlooking the Clyde was amazing and so large our Grandson could play hide and seek ,when he came to visit after school. So welcoming and comfortable. Breakfast was so busy with was not to usual high standard
