Beautiful old building.

Liked: Very large room and en-suite bathroom, very well presented. Bed was large and comfortable and the room and bathroom very clean and tidy.
Disliked: Being in the older part of the hotel my room lacked a few of the modern conveniences you'd maybe expect in a hotel. No air-con in the room and the lack of a lift being the main examples (there's a newer addition to the hotel that does have a lift) It's also not very well soundproofed, I could hear the floorboards creaking with other guests moving around and the old style sash windows while lovely to look at, do nothing to prevent the noise of late night party goers making their way home or early morning commuters going past in their car, meaning I was woken several times through the night and early morning.

Disliked: Old mattress with springs you can feel on your bodyA disappointing breakfast. Eggs overcooked. Potato cakes deep fried. We did mention this to staff who did offer to get more eggs but we had already waited a while and we didn’t really have time to wait again. Expensive compared to similar alternatives.

A very helpful and lovely...

Liked: Helpful staff. The bed was really comfortable. Room very clean. Refreshments in the room was very good. Food in the dining room was amazing - compliments to the chef.Breakfast was very nice and quick to the table after ordering.
Disliked: The only thing I did not like - and this is petty. The shower head leaked, but it just needed tightening up.
