Fantastic location, fantastic staff, room...
Liked: We stay at the Steveston Hotel every few months. We have stayed in almost every type of room - king with jacuzzi, full size bed, one full and one twin bed, king with no jacuzzi. This time, we chose a room with 2 beds. Both were comfortable. I particularly like the combo night light, clock and USB chargers.
Disliked: The bathroom is a bit cramped. With use, water leaked out from somewhere and there was a pool of water on the floor. It would leak only when the shower was on. This is a problem that has been going on for a while. The cable to the tv was loose and after about 10 minutes, cable was lost. We asked the young man at reception to come up to the room. He jiggered the cable and that did the trick. Not being a plumber, he could not explain the leak, but promised to report it to management. He also helped with the remote controlling the mini-split.

This hotels days could be...
Liked: The staff are terrific, housekeeping and the guys at reception try and do their best with what they have to work with. The rooms look fresh and modern but the age of the building dictates what can be done, so there are gaps under the doors for noise and mice/rats, the heating cooling system has more gaps, the hot water system takes ages to heat. Everything looks nice but we had our luggage eaten by a rat/mice who spent the night chewing through fabric and snacks. So what do you do? Reception clearly had heard of this problem before, there are many other reviews advising this problem but the owners are not fixing, we still had a second night before flying out but the town was full so moving not an option so we stayed but felt very worried and uncomfortable. The room rate removed for the first night paid for replacement luggage. But this is not a good situation
Disliked: The above obviously. The included breakfast felt like a seinfeld episode, you are not allowed to touch certain things or help yourself to a coffee or tea or juice or even a spoon you have to sit down and be served by a very capable and busy lady , the kitchen lady and the waitress appear to be at war with each other and you the customer are in the middle, the food is ok, if you like fried food but it is not a generous serving, its all too hard to fit into. There are devleopment applications on big boards outside the property so us rat/mice affected guestscould be amongst the last

Basic stay, great breakfast and...
Liked: Best accomodation/price when you travel alone and just need a place to stay. Great and affordable breakfast nearby. Comfy bed.
Disliked: Tremendously loud AC directly outside of my window. Taking a detailed look, the room was a little run down.

okay but only because of...
Liked: This hotel is in a very good location and that's about all you can say about this place.
Disliked: Its defiantly a no-frills Hotel and the main door is locked between 10pm and 9am so if you go out to the car don't forget the main door key or you will not get back in until morning.

Very good
Liked: Staff were EXCEPTIONAL and they helped so much with our heavy luggage. Steveston is a really beautiful town and the people are friendly. Amenities are definitely available with a supermarket opposite and cafe right next door to the hotel

The 2-night stay met our...
Liked: This heritage hotel is a set of around 30 rooms, above the Buck & Ear pub located in the heart of the historic village of Steveston. It is ideal for exploring the village, waterfront and nearby Garry Point park on foot. The room was clean, compact in size but with a small bathroom. The adjacent cafe is ideal for a classic, inexpensive breakfast or lunch. while the pub offers food and drinks for lunch or dinner. It is great place to stay for a night or two and provides easy access to Vancouver airport and the ferry terminal of Tsawwassen. The room we stayed had a modern air condition unit. Free parking is included.
Disliked: Although rooms have been recently upgraded, some TLC is required, such as paint touch-ups on doors and walls and re-carpeting in some areas. Rooms are accessed up a flight of stairs (no elevator) which may be an issue for mobility challenged persons. A small coffee maker is provided, but no fridge or microwave, should these be needed. Most rooms face out over the top of the pub and cafe , where air ventilation systems which are noisy when the window is opened. Rooms above the pub might be noisy at weekends. The recently opened Waterfront hotel provides a more upmarket competitive option.
