Dissapointing stay!

Liked: Location good
Disliked: Having stayed here before we booked again but we were dissapointed to find the quality of the accomadtion had gone downThe room was very small the bathroom had no form of heating and had some mould on the wallsThe second pillows didnt have pillowcases We had to ask for milk as none in the room and were only given 2 sachets??The bar area which had an open fire was not lit, was dull, and lacked festive ambience, one of the reasons we booked again was that we enjoyed thus feature previouslyThe large glass of Sauvignon blanc I had was in my opinion far to expensive 12.50! these prices are what you would expect from a 5* hotel or a,city hotel certainly not in a small country hotelThe food we had was typical bar food but was good and served hotThe premises overall are tired and in need of attention we have stayed in much better hotels in the area for the price paidWe were truly dissapointed!!

Great place to stay to...

Liked: Excellent dinner served by helpful & knowledgeable staff. Followed by a similar excellent breakfast. Have to give a very special mention to Xaviar not only for her attention to detail but also her bubbly personality.
Disliked: No complaints.

Peaceful stay with top tier...

Liked: Truly yummy breakfast. Very peaceful location for a good nights sleep. Lovely down to earth staff.
Disliked: Few details missed with cleaning - toothpaste and grubby marks in sink, mould on the shower head. Sink plug wasn’t attached to the chain and was impossible to remove after use, so had to leave a sink full of water. Toilet flush is about to fail. Small details but would make the room seem a bit more cared for. New mattress needed in Badger room - think it was a little collapsed! Bed frame squeaky too. Wouldn’t be put off another visit as price was fair for what we needed.

Disappointing

Liked: The twice baked cheese soufflé.
Disliked: Dirty carpet in the hallway and stairway - covered in bits and didn't look as it had been cleaned for a very long time. Bland and dirty bedroom. Dirty en-suite (both the toilet and shower) Disappointing view from the window.So cold in the bar/restaurant that I had to keep my jacket on - and apparently there was no way that the staff could make the room any warmer.Didn't stay for breakfast. Couldn't wait to leave!

Very enjoyable stay with excellent...

Liked: Both the breakfasts and the evening meals were superbly cooked and delicious. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The place is located in an ideal place to explore the beautiful North Yorkshire countryside
Disliked: The extractor fan in the en-suite was not functional causing difficulty in removing condensation. Otherwise, everything we expected was fine.
