I loved it, my dog...

Liked: Cater brilliant for dogs, including a large blanket, towel and 2 bowls in the room, plus on site walking facilities and the forest a few minutes away. Great breakfast but I did have a freshly cooked version, as opposed to the buffet, but it was excellent.
Disliked: The sausage on the breakfast should have been from a good local butcher, as opposed to a Walls-esque, utility, sausage.

Comfortable in excellent location.

Liked: Breakfast excellent with good choice. Dinner OK, but wider choice preferred (specials useful addition).
Disliked: Few maintenance issues with room eg main door lock jammed closed, bath plug leaking (no rubber seal). Water not very warm first night.

Functional - avoid cottage rooms

Liked: The staff were very pleasant, bed linen was clean and well done, plenty of breakfast and good coffee.
Disliked: We booked a courtyard room but got a cottage room, which was very tired and had an air of bedsit about it - cheap door poorly painted, plastic curtains, bad smell, mould on ceiling. We saw the courtyard rooms when passing the next morning and they looked more up to date, but cottage is best avoided.

Overall we enjoyed our stay...

Liked: All the staff were friendly and helpul. We paid to have breakfast included and it was excellent. They were very accommodating with my vegetarian daughter. We also ate there with a friend for the Sunday roast. We all enjoyed our lunch very much. Both breakfast and lunch were served in the lovely setting of the Vederers’ Court. With a large, warm fire in the fireplace and the Christmas decorations, the room was beautiful.
Disliked: ‘The bathroom in our unit (one of the outside units) could have done with some attention. The shower was very hard to work and tended to “wash” the floor. There was a slight bit of mold on the wall behind the toilet.
