The Smoke House Lodge and Cabins, Monteagle

I’ve stayed in older hotels which were great. It comes down to care and maintenance.

Liked: Nothing.
Disliked: Old and dated.

Excellent economical stay!

Liked: Excellent choice for the great price.Management was super friendly and accommodating.
Disliked: A bit dated, which was to be expected for the price. I didn’t care one bit as I just needed a safe, clean place to sleep with my large dog.

For somewhere to sleep that...

Liked: The location to our family in area was great. 35 min to Chattanooga where we went to Rock city to see the lights, 8 minutes to the cross at Sewanee. Loved the balcony off the back rooms, open view of pool, bands, big field and it was worth the price. Oh and allowing your fur child to stay without a HUGE deposit is 100% the reason we will be back!!
Disliked: I was fine with the “character” of an older hotel/motel that has been around a long time. Some people don’t care for the peeling wall paper or chipped paint, but it’s again just a place to sleep. The hardwood floors definitely need a good cleaning though. My feet were very dirty after a shower but the sink, tub, counters were clean (I brought cleaning supplies just in case bc of other reviews)

Long Weekend for a show...

Liked: We’ve stayed here before with friends. This time we decided to get 1 of the villa/cabins since 4 of us staying in a room was tight. The people here have always been pleasant and helpful! The villa was larger and we appreciated having more space, a kitchen space, a porch and fireplace! A plus is there was wood available which was such a help.
Disliked: If a room sleeps 4 then please have at least 4 bath towels in the room. The place could use a good cleaning- nothing glaring aside from dust build up and I’m allergic which could have been a thing. Also if a unit had a kitchen please stock the kitchen with basic necessities- I pick a place with a kitchen for a reason one of which is not to lug my kitchen along. The microwave is so old you can’t read the display to know how to use it- these are all easy fixes and by not having these things addressed it sends a message that you may not care what patrons think. Please take more pride in what is being offered.
