Disliked: The very high prices of the food & wine in the restaurant with a limited choice of dishes on the menu. The bar prices were very high too.

Liked: Lovely property, will situatied, nice gardens, dinner was very good and selection of wines and spirits exceptional. Staff need training and need to be more attentive to guests. We felt ignored on several occassions with staff just talking and laughing with each other in adjacent rooms rather than serving guests
Disliked: The staff need to be better trained and more attentive to guests. We were ignored on several occassions when we were waiting to be served breakfast or drinks at the bar when we could hear the staff laughing and joking in the next room - poor!

Liked: The location and the rooms were great. The reception rooms were friendly and nicely decorated. The staff we very accommodating.
Disliked: While the food was good, we were seeking less formal dining options. We ended up seeking nearby gastropubs.

Adequate but not outstanding

Liked: The location was very idyllic, I was a wedding guest at the Manor house a few years ago so thought this would be a good choice. Room decor was to our taste. En-suite shower large and luxurious.
Disliked: Arrived at 1530, which was 30mins after check in time but informed that the room wasn't ready. We were offered a complimentary tea or coffee whilst waiting but I didn't feel that this was adequate (a prosecco, given the festive period, would've been better). Waited around 20 mins for the tea & coffee, and room still not ready at end of drinking beverage. Room was finally ready around 1630 hrs. Stairs down to toilets near the restaurant needed a good vacuum, every stair covered in detritus (looked straw).Bin in room did not have any bin liner and looked sticky and dirty from previous guests waste. Mattress in room was incredibly springy meaning every time my partner moved in the night, I moved also (and he's within his BMI, not overweight or anything) - it needs a Silentnight mattress or similar.Booked a table for the bar/lounge for a light bite and treated myself to a negroni cocktail . The cocktail was OK but not worth £18 and was informed by the waiter that it was his first time making the cocktails. I would have thought a 5-star establishment would have a top notch mixologist for those prices. The things spoiled our stay somewhat, which we had high hopes of and was meant to be a festive treat. It may be a 5-star location but not sure it is a 5-star hotel.
