We wish to thank you...

Liked: My fiancé and i stayed there for our wedding which was held at the Edinburgh Castle. The Gate House was absolutely perfect for our evening and preparations for our wedding. The atmosphere and location are fantastic and perfect for what we had in mind. The dinner on New Year’s eve was a capstone to our wedding day and could not have been better. The staff were so welcoming and really went above and beyond to assure that our wedding was special. I cant thank them enough for how comfortable they made us feel!
Disliked: Nothing. It was perfect!

Liked: Great heating and breakfast.
Disliked: One light bulb went off while we were there and the shower didn’t drain quickly enough so began to fill up during the 5 mins I was using the shower.

Loved it easy parking ,...

Liked: staff, Location , 5 star breakfast, bathroom size and quality. Great size bed , though bedroom was tight . Food was good abdbarwasexcellent. Cosy relaxing space. Staff were so good to us. Easy stay.
Disliked: only downside was our room was right beside the path between buildings. So it was noisy people walking by outside 1am-3am. That said it was cosy bed so managed to get back to sleep easily

Liked: Excellent facilities - historic but with modern comforts. The staff was incredibly welcoming - whiskey while checking in and turn down service at night. The best hotel of my two weeks in the UK.

Liked: the hotel was a converted beautiful castle and was a great experience to stay at. However I didn't know that it was on university campus and it would have been better if this was explained. we were greeted and our room was very nice and comfortable.
Disliked: the location was close to the centre and free parking was important. EV charging was available which was important to us.

Liked: Loved the building and architecture of the building, friendly staff and delicious breakfast

Not quite the experience I...

Liked: The rooms and bathrooms especially were lovely. Clean and comfortable. The dining room was beautiful, and the staff very welcoming.
Disliked: We were there to spend Christmas with our family. The website, in my opinion, gave the impression of a much larger property, with more expansive, comfortable common areas to relax in. Since it was wintertime, and much time spent inside, we were looking for an old-style property which had sitting areas in which to relax, have a beverage and enjoy each other's company. This was not available at The Scott except for a narrow and cold-feeling hallway with chairs and small tables. Also, we attended the Christmas dinner, which was presented very nicely. However, the menu was high on ambition and short on execution. In other words, not very good, although I could see the chef worked very hard to make it something special. It just wasn't very tasty to be honest. Vegetables were nearly raw (and I LIKE firm vegetables). Incredibly expensive, which is fine for a special meal -- as long as that meal is actually delicious and special, which unfortunately this was not.
