Amazing location, wonderful decor, great...

Liked: Loved the location and views. The decor was excellent. I liked the ordering options on the breakfast menu. Good temperature in the room, It wasn't too hot. Delicious eggs Benedict.
Disliked: The pillows were terrible. We contacted reception for mattress toppers, but housekeeping never came. The cocktail bar didn't have what it needed to make cocktails, and they were not very good. We had dinner in the restaurant, which was not up to the standard I'd expect for this hotel. The staff lacked experience. I was not impressed with being charged a service fee on my bill when the service wasn't up to scratch. The entree wasn't very good but the main course was delicious. The desset menu wasn't very inciting.

Liked: The hotel is like from another era and it’s a beautiful building. Perfect location and friendly stuff. The cinema room was gorgeous!
Disliked: Rooms vary from photos (ur room may not be the same you thought u booked). The furniture in the room and the mattress were of low quality. The food served at the Royal Cafe was the worst we had during our stay.

Disliked: I have stayed here twice recently ( booked together). Housekeeping really lets this hotel down, although it did improve when it was brought to the attention of staff.

Liked: The property is in a great location and the rooms are lovely.
Disliked: The service in the restaurant needs someone to take charge, we ate there 3 times and wait staff aimlessly walked around with food to various tables till they found who owned it, wrong bills were given, drinks took forever to come & while most of the staff were lovely they clearly had no idea what they were doing. They seem to have a host that did nothing but sit people, never took an order & on one occasion we saw a staff member drop a fork and the young girl who seemed to be the host literally walked over the fork 3 times, she just seemed to walk around doing nothing, I am in hospitality & ended up picking the fork up myself before someone tripped on it. It was chaos and clearly no one had any idea what was going on and it was like watching a train wreck.The elevator was also another thing that clearly doesn’t work well, one elevator for nearly every floor is crazy, especially when you have luggage.

Perfect location to explore Edinburgh....
