Disliked: Room not arranged as twin as requested and confirmed on booking Kettle did turn off automatically

Wonderful hotel for our journey

Liked: The room was nice and clean. Also, the location was close to Waverley station.
Disliked: The receptionist wasn’t very friendly, but everything else was fine.

Lavish, relaxing, accommodating and friendly...

Liked: The hotel was lavish and relaxing. It was roughly 100m from the Royal Mile, if that, and was conveniently close to the train station. The rooms were beautifully designed. The beds were exceptionally comfortable; more of a firmer mattress with memory-foam-feeling pillows. The bedding was soft. The room had ample storage and plenty of lamps for calmer lighting. There was no noise disturbance from other guests or the train station or road works. The marble staircase just off reception was stunning to both look at and walk through. The view from the Director Double City View room was stunning. The staff were so accommodating and provided two towel-swans in the shape of a love heart, with petals and Prosecco for my partner’s birthday. They were so thoughtful
Disliked: Almost nothing. We ordered breakfast in bed, amazing food, silver domes to cover the plates; they were slightly marked and hadn’t been polished which made them look dirty. It is an amazing hotel with amazing staff.

Our stay was very nice...

Liked: The bathroom was very nice and the bed was very comfortable. Hotel staff were very friendly and provided excellent customer service. It was an extra bonus to have comp tickets to see a movie in the theatre.
Disliked: No view from the room. The room had a constant food smell which made me think we might have been over the kitchen (Room 509).We had dinner at the restaurant and what a disappointment. The service was very poor (two guys very unorganized) who we had to repeat ask for items, A women staffer came on at 8 pm and she was brilliant. My £38 steak was over cooked - I requested medium rare and it was very tough. Dined on Wed, January 29.
