Centralised hotel

Disliked: Could do with seating in the foyer

Old hotel - you get...
Liked: The location was fair as was the price.Bar and restaurant within hotel - bar offered board games which are always fun - a little bonding over chat and a drink, particularly if weather is bad and most things are shut for the Season.Housekeeping can make a bed!! Family room - great size. Recently refurbished bathroom. Nice tiling and sanitary ware but not the best finish overall.Staff were pleasant. Breakfast was plentiful in the fry-up department.
Disliked: Like most of these older hotels in Oban, it’s very dated, very grubby and in dire need of some immediate TLC. This could be achieved without losing any of its historic features or charm. Some money needs to be spent!Car parking is very limited. One tiny lift to accommodate almost 100 rooms. Expect long waits. Those with a mobility disability will struggle. Lift is also shared by housekeeping.Hot water in shower was lukewarm at best but mainly cold and died to a trickle before blasting you for 20 seconds then died to a trickle again. Not suitable at all for the older generation. We raised this with Reception who advised someone had attended and fixed, but on departure (Day 3), it was still the same.Old sash windows were dilapidated and draughty. Bathroom was freezing despite radiator being on.The entire World must think all Scots eat is a fry up for breakfast. Or cereal. There was a half dozen yogurts and a few croissants for those who didn’t want fried eggs, sausage or black pudding. The UK in general needs to get a little more with it and provide more than just a fried tomato and potato scone for vegans/vegetarians and the like. Even a chicken sausage or some turkey rashers for a bit of variety.

Lovely hotel, good food, wonderful...
Liked: Buffet breakfast was very good, but one day we had a plated service due to the number of guests being low in numbers
Disliked: Parking was a bit hit and miss

Liked: The room was very satisfactory, the bed very comfortable. Breakfast was good, very nice coffee! The location is first class, close to transport links and right in the middle of the town and all its amenities
