Poor overpriced restaurant. Wouldn’t stay...

Liked: Good location and friendly staff
Disliked: Very overpriced restaurant menu poor and quality not as expected. Certainly couldn’t recommend it.For example the Black pudding starter at £12 consisted of not much more than a piled of green rocket. Probably cost less than £1 to produce. Main venison meal was two messily slices of meat. Hardly a couple of mouthfuls.

Lovely traditional hotel in a...

Liked: The room was very warm and comfortable. In particular, the mattress was very comfy and the linens were high quality - I slept incredibly well! The staff were friendly, helpful and accommodating. Although the hotel is on a 'main' road, there was virtually no traffic overnight and it was a peaceful place to stay - despite the fact that there was a wedding party occupying many of the other rooms, my sleep was undisturbed. Food in the restaurant was excellent.
Disliked: I understand why breakfast needs to be ordered the night before - avoids waste and allows food to be cooked freshly at the appropriate time - however, it's not always possible to predict how much or what you might want to eat the next morning, especially if ordering before visiting the excellent restaurant for an evening meal! Otherwise I had no complaints and would definitely stay here again.
