Built in the 1700s the Rowan Tree Country Hotel now offers elegant rooms many with views of the mountains Cairngorm National Park or Loch Alvie. Traditional Scottish breakfasts are available. The hotel has a lounge and bar both with log fires in winter. The bar has a selection of local gins and whiskeys. The restaurant serves Scottish dishes many using local ingredients and offers cooked breakfasts including porridge with whiskey. Meals need to be booked prior to arrival to avoid disappointment. The hotel has been expanded and modernized but retains many original features including open fires stained-glass leaded windows and beamed ceilings. All rooms have TVs WiFi Egyptian cotton sheets and private bathrooms. In the Cairngorm National Park The Rowan Tree is set in beautiful countryside well-known for golfing fishing hiking and riding. The hotel is 40 minutes' drive from Inverness in the heart of the Scottish Highlands.

Liked: Quiet, clean
Disliked: Nothing

Poor

Liked: Good breakfast, good shower, good area for dog exercising.
Disliked: Room not cleaned prior to entry, room not warm enough. Evening meal was not available on either night.

Great hotel just outside Aviemore

Liked: Lovely little hotel just outside Aviemore.Staff were friendly and helpful.Evening meal was exceptional for what is classed as 3* hotel and breakfast was also very very good.
Disliked: Room was very chilly, but soon fixed with a mobile heater.

Liked: The staff were lovely and very welcoming. The room was perfect for a solo traveller. Location is great for Aviemore and the outdoors. Ample parking. The breakfast was lovely and it was a shame to curtail my trip as I couldn’t get to eat in the restaurant. Would definitely stay again.

Disliked: Limited evening menu

Perfect location for exploring the...

Liked: Very accommodating to our dog. Friendly staff, massive comfy bed, big room, beautiful location. Breakfast was great, personal and they made us feel comfortable enough to trial first hotel breakfast with our young dog - it went passably well.
Disliked: I'd have loved a bath - but I understand not always the space.
